An integral and narrative orientation system for the Sagrada Familia, constructed by a family of pictograms, signs and signals that improve navigation inside the basilica for all visitors.
The Sagrada Familia is one of the most renowned projects by modernist architect Antoni Gaudí, and was recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005. It is the second most visited church in Europe, the most visited tourist site in Catalunya, and one of the most visited in Spain. So far, between 1915 and 2022, Sagrada Familia has registered almost 83 million visitors.
We have been in charge of planning, designing and maintaining an integral and narrative orientation system for the Sagrada Familia: an ongoing project that would be more efficient and visually appealing than the previous communication system, with the intention of optimising the users’ visit, and making the journey more accessible.
Considering the high number of visitors, this Narrative Wayfinding plan facilitates the purchase of tickets and general access to the Sagrada Familia, and organises the flux of visitors through a narrative and accessible route using physical and digital resources. This way, the experience is more dynamic, and positively represents the patrimonial and historical value of this very relevant landmark.
