The exhibition design establishes a dialogue between the documentary archive and the artist’s work, through an experiential space that breaks with the logic of the MNAC’s traditional exhibitions.
Project awarded with the Laus Silver Award 2024.
Discovering the Archive
Anglada Camarasa was the Catalan artist with the greatest international exposure, amongst Marià Fortuny and Joan Miró. His obsession with documenting his career and creative processes, led him to accumulate a huge documentary collection, which has been donated by his family to CREC, the Research and Knowledge Center of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya.
“Anglada Camarasa: L’arxiu premeditat” is an exhibition of hybrid nature, which allows a dialogue to be established between the artist’s documentary collection and a selection of his main works. The proposal brings the museum’s conservation spaces to one of its exhibition rooms. The appearance of this unexpected space within the tour of the galleries creates an immersive and tangible experience that breaks with the logic of traditional exhibitions
Modular Archival System
One of our priorities is to create transformative communication spaces that are as flexible, accessible and as sustainable as possible. We achieve this through a holistic vision of design and its systematisation.
In this case, we are committed to transforming the storage and conservation structures into an exhibition system. Once the exhibition ends, 100% of the material will be repurposed by the museum, thus promoting their reutilization.
