Objects of Desire. Surrealism and design, 1924-2020

The new exhibition in Caixaforum Barcelona will give light to the creative and juxtaposed dialogue between art, surrealism and design. The itinerary exhibition will be hosted at Madrid, Sevilla and Palma Caixaforum Centres. It is organized and produced with Vitra Design Museum.

The object of desire

We proposed the Bocca sofa, designed by Studio65 in 1970, as the object which articulates the creative campaign for the new exhibition, and for its promotion in the digital media and the social networks.

The installation of the sofa in the different CaixaForum centres activates the generation of quality content, the visitors participation and  the public prescription in social networks.

The benefits of a sustainable and universal wayfinding system

Madrid has 3.16 million inhabitants. In 2018, 9 million people visited it. It is a cosmopolitan city where its residents live, with people who travel daily to the city, those who visit it more or less regularly, and of course those who come to it for tourism. Madrid has acquired a broad perspective of diversity. A flexible, universal and sustainable orientation system will offer great benefits for the city and its people.

A system to compensate

The Wayfinding Universal Design is a discipline aimed at implementing integrated guidance systems in the environment; Universal, sustainable and intelligent. Its purpose is to improve the readability of the environments and facilitate the orientation of all people with maximum autonomy.

To facilitate the orientation of everyone in the city, the system must be flexible and adapt to any situation, its function is to compensate. Compensate both for the lack of resources or individual capacities of people, and the limitations of readability of the environment.

The system must adapt naturally to the maximum possible situations, in environments with different conditions and in constant change. The less personal skills or less readability of the environment, the greater the number of resources the system will provide.

Personal conditioners for orientation

Avanti Studio defined the 6 main conditions that determine the individual ability to move in the city:
language, functional capacity, socioeconomic profile and knowledge of the city, as well as; the reason, the rhythm and the way we move.

The diversity cube represents the conditions that determine the individual orientation capacity in the city. The cube allows us to simulate multiple combinations for each individual, situations to which the system must respond before and during city tours.

Identification of needs based on the diversity cube

The use of the cube allowed all the parties involved to change the perspective about the needs of the users during their city tours. Broadened the vision of the team allowing to create more conscious, creative and innovative proposals for the project.
